Sockets

Sockets are bots that take on a secondary or auxiliary role when it comes to performing a particular task, usually playing music. Several sockets may play a MIDI en masse by dividing up the file so each socket plays a particular part. This can make things smoother and more efficient, akin to the concept of using multiple cores in a multi-core processor.
